This old mold arrived quite awhile ago with a bunch of other stuff from a swap meet. I haven't seen much written about the 195 grainer other than a few recipes in the Lyman Handbook.
Is it any good---I mean is it an accurate bullet? And if so, why has it gone out of production?

This design is fairly old...it has been around for a while and was used and endorsed by several well known shots back in the day. H&G made their #130 which is a clone of it; I have successfully used it in my Gold Cup. It feeds well and can be made to shoot accurately when the powder is carefully adjusted. I used 3.5 grains of Bullseye and it did well. Also used it in two revolvers. Sized it to .452 and used a taper crimp of .471". Shape may look a little weird, but actually it was used by popular ammo manufacturers for their "match 45acp ammo. LLS

If I remember correctly, accuracy with this design starts to fall off at the 50 yard mark. It was originally designed for Bullseye shooting, like the H&G 130. The slightly heavier H&G 68 seemed to work better for the longer courses of fire according to the bullseye shooters I've talked with.

It was discontinued in 1991 according to Lyman. I have 2 DC and have always liked it. Fed well in my guns and was certainly accurate enough. However being what I do is put holes in the air (plink) I'm going pretty much with the 452374 now as ALL my magazines feed those flawlessly.
