Here are some Pics of a shotgun that my father bought me when I was 13 years old... It was my first gun and a bolt action.... When I moved away it was left in my dads care, and then it was borrowed by somebody for about a year and it came back very rusty..... My dad oiled it up and put it in a case and recently, my father gave it to a friend that was comming up here to alaska and I picked it up from him... It was pretty sad, and the finish was pretty bad on the stock... peeling on the but area.... Soooo I used Rogers Method to strip and refinish the stock, and having no access to a bead blaster, I used epoxy on the barrel and tube, barrel band and trigger guard.... I know that most folks dont like to use parkerizing stuff and epoxy's on barrels, but its mine, and this way, I will be able to hand it down to my son and have no fear of it rusting....

Here are the before pics of the stock... Click on the pics for a enlarged view...

AlaskanGuy,

It's your gun, and considering the weather conditions where you live, I'd say epoxy was a good choice. You've done a great job refinishing it.

Enjoy,

Nice job. It's a shame to see guns old or new neglected. It is not that much work to take care of them.
