If you were going to build a 32cal ML what would you build. I don't know what I want it for. Just feeling the need for one since I sold my Crockett. The idea of a Tennessee flint is great but a short heavy barrel underhammer is really neat. Just wondering what others would build?

I built mine in the flint hog gun style, no one would hesitate to carry one to the hog lot, even if you might have to drop it to stick a hog. I can't think of a single reason to own a 32 other than I don't have a 25. Some days one does not want to burn a lot of powder but still get to shoot a lot.

I have yet to build one, but it would be something along the line of a Pedersoli Mortimer pistol in flint. Got a smaller Spanish made lock just waiting for the day.

I built a 32 caliber flintlock in my own style to fit me. It worked out well enough. I have a 32 caliber barrel, 1 1/8th" across the flats, not sure what I'll do with it.

Heck a 13/16th" barrel in 32 is a target weight!

Im just wanting to target shoot at 25 to 50 yds. I like the idea of less lead and powder! 25lbs of lead will cast a lot of .311 balls

A percussion under-hammer with a medium weigh barrel would be my choice. I'd love to have a flintlock, but my understanding of them is limited and my experience with the under-hammer action has been great. I like the H&A type action because of it's trimness and lines, as well as it's reliability as far as ignition goes.

I would build an inline on an action like this 94922 (available from) http://http://www.longrifles-pr.com/actions.shtml (http://www.longrifles-pr.com/actions.shtml) with a fast twist like 1-36 or 1-34 Ive been eyeing it for a while, and it seems like it could be nice and light. It looks well built and even has the timney trigger. very similar to some of my whites. The only issue is how to stock it, wood custom or try to find a laminate that is close to a fit and bed. I had a Knight mountaineer sleeved to a .32, and love it. My ONLY complaint is its a bit heavy. But like any retrofit to a smaller bore, thats the tradeoff.

I've always thought long barreled .32's are too front heavy for my taste. I've always been partial to the .36 because the powder and lead difference is marginal and the bigger bore lowers the weight. I have an odd barrel that Dixie sold years ago that I have in a full stock flinter. It is a 1-39, 40" and only 3/4 across the flats. They had the same barrel in .32 but to me it was too muzzle heavy compared to the .36.

I like the underhammer. I use one for a match rifle. it would not be hard to make ne to take different barrels. you can get the under hammer actions for $200.

I also want a flint .32 rifle. My preference is for a Tn style poor boy. I'm thinking about a .32 x 3/4" x 40" barrel and an early Ketland flint lock. Wonderful squirrel and small game/target rifle.

I have a Dixie flintlock squirrel rifle, with a 42" 13/16" straight barrel. It is indeed too muzzle heavy, and would handle a whole lot better if it had a swamped barrel. Or was a 40 cal. On the other hand, my little 32 cal. TC Cherokee handles nicely but doesn't have enough drop in the buttstock. Alas, some day I'll build the perfect little small game rifle. A short barrel underhammer pistol with a removable buttstock and peep sights would sure be cool though....

I'm in the process of getting the parts together for a Lancaster Pennsylvania flint lock in .32 call. I just got word from Rice barrel co. That my barrel got damaged. And it will be 3-4 weeks before they can get me another. That's ok I have a lots of work to do before I have to inlet the barrel.

I could use help on a .32 project. I have a CVA barrel.
Can I glass or shim the stock from another CVA rifle? Will the lock work with the smaller barrel?
Thanks for any and all advice!
