I would like to hear if anyone has used Power Pistol powder in reloading for a 92 winchester 32-20 with 115 gr rnfp plain base boolits.
I was kind of hoping to hear if there are more than cowboy loads and if they are willing to share some loads?
Or if maybe this powder just don't work so well in this caliber.
I was hoping this powder could stand in temporarily for my Unique load that runs to near 1350 fps
My powder supply is getting tighter than a frogs butt but I got a bit of a surplus of this particular powder.
Thank-you kindly

I would think that 3.5 to 4.5 gr. of Power Pistol "should" be ok with a 115 gr boolit. I have not tried it yet but I sure don't think it would hurt a 92. Power Pistol is reasonably close to the same burning rate as Unique from what I have read and experienced. I bet you could do some research and find a safe load. JW

IME PP subs very well for Unique in the .38 spl and .357, I think it would do well in the 32/20. It is just slightly slower than Unique so I would work somewhere close to the range you are happy with Unique.

start with 3.5 and work up till it burns clean

I don't load 32/20 but I do use power pistol in 30-30 with the tl314-90swc at 4.5 gr i get clean burn I also load 6.3 gr under a c309-170rf without a gas check

the way i look at it power pistol slower but fairly close to unique , and unique is well published in most everything so look at the unique back off and work up

i just happened to load 40s&w with 6.3 gr of power pistol under a 170 gr so i tried that in the 30-30 for a light load with a 170gr bullet knowing that 7.5 of unique was a known load , when i test shot it for groups i had one ragged hole at 25 and shots touching at 50 and at 100 i could ring the steep plate every time but not sure i see well enough at 100 with irons for much more than a 3-4 inch group
that served my purposes well enough that i went with it.

Thank-you all Gentlemen for you advice; much appreciated. I used Power Pistol in the past in 45 colt with success.

With a 115-ish grain boolit, Start at 4.5 grains and work up to a max of 5.8 grains. I have used 5.0 grains in starline brass with a 311008 boolit, or 5.3 grains with the RCBS 32-98 SWC. I prefer Unique, but these days you use what you got.The RCBS boolit shoots very well.

Thank-you Rintinglen; That sounds right to me as well. PP being a bit slower than Unique should deliver less pressure as well but the plain base boolits will probably hinder Power Pistol being used to maximum effect. Therefore wise to stay at Unique loadings.
