View Full Version : LEE 358 TLWC seating depth
Has anybody seen a difference in accuracy crimping in the top TL groove, or on top of the bullet? I know the deeper the boolit is seated the more PSI and some FPS gain. I have a pic but can't get it to upload.
Thanks

With TL bullets of all calibers, others too, I like to have the front drive band up into the revolvers throats. Thus with TL bullets I crimp in the 1st or 2nd lube grooves. The TLs just seem to shoot a bit more accurately that way.

I crimp into that top lube groove. Just seemed like the logical place to do it. Unless you are compressing the powder I don't think it maters much.

My 52 won't run unless the bullet is at or below the brass. For everything else it's the top groove.

I use this method with the 9mm, the .38, the .40 and the .44.
OK I'll give it a try. Just bought the Lee mold and cast about 750 of the little WC.

+1 to this! 2nd lube groove from the top Works best in my S&Ws .38 Specials and .357 mags. I find them very accurate that way
Did a little experimenting this morning with the advice you guys gave. If I seat them out any farther than the top groove they won't chamber in the Ruger 101 38sp I have. My 357s of course are not a problem
