I did a search on here and came up with nothing. So, what do we collectively know about loading this cartridge with boolits?

I am going to help a friend who recently acquired one and has no ammo.

I have Ly 121 gr TC, RCBS 147 gr TC, a couple flavors of Ly and RCBS 156 SWCGC.

I have AA# 2,5,7,and 9/820; RD, GD, Unique, Herco; and prolly a few others.

I have a set of Lee dies that I will set up in a turret press. We'll start with some new Rem case.

Four hours and no response. Not surprising considering the search turned up nothing.

Anyone?

I would imagine (never loaded cast 357sig) you wouldn't be able to realize the full potential of the sig in cast form. Maybe with a gas check?

Even trying to load 9mm cast with a fast powder leads my barrel pretty bad. Softer loads give me no issues though.

Edit: I stand corrected - http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?82844-357-sig

An older gentleman I know loads boolits for it . Been a few years since I talked to him as far a loads I have no idea , but I do remember him saying it took some tinkering to get them to feed reliably

One problem that i see is the short neck of the 357 sigs case. getting the correct bullet fit to the case neck length might be a problem ? it seems to me someone on this fourm had one of the custom mould makers make him a mould designed around the 357 sig .

Haven't had a 357 Sig since I started casting boolits but it required a short truncated cone bullet and it wasn't easy to load for. I generally dropped in my .40 S&W barrel for practice.

Lo and behold. I found an unused Ranchdog TLC357-135-TC in with my moulds. So I fired up the pot last week and made some. They are now sitting on a cookie sheet, checked, run thru a Lee .358 push through die, and once dipped (45/45/10). They will get a redip today or tomorrow. Dies and brass arrived yesterday, so after the crappy wx this week we'll give this thing a try. Also have some 115 XTP and some Nosler 124 HP. Ought to find something that will work, real boolits preferred.

I've posted on this topic a few times here. 358-125RF (new version), sized .358, loaded with 9.2 gr of AA #7 works great in both of my 357 Sigs. Bullet is seated with a fingernail width of the bearing surface exposed above the case mouth. One is a G31 (Glock) and the other is a Sig. The load shoots great and feeds great. Try it out, I think you will be pleased.

Guess my post got lost somewhere. I use a Lyman 356637 at 153gr with 7gr of AA-5 in every 357 Sig I own. It works great in everything from a 226 Sig to a Glock 33.

The Accurate 35-147S and 35-125S are designs especially for .357sig. I have the 35-147S myself and use it for .357sig, though it can be used for other calibers as well.

I would use the AA#5 or AA #7. The 115gr XTP and 124gr Nosler both will work very well in .357sig. The .357sig needs a bullet with a shorter nose and extra straight real estate above the lube groove for the case neck.

I've done just that. Here's my writeup. http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?179234-Success-with-the-357-sig

For a plinker I've used a 158RNFP (162gr actual), 12 brinell, Ø.358" 1.155" OAL over 7.1gr of surplus WC820F (fast lot) that burns about like AA#7, using a CCI sp primer. Feeds fine from either 40 or 357sig mags in a G31. Goes 910fps with stdv of 10fps. I've got a G35 with a barsto 357sig barrel and the neck/throat won't allow a .358" bullet, but the factory G31 is loose enough. There's room to push it I just never tried. The 158RNFP has lots of shank for the neck to grip with little if any setback.

I've also found that there's a wide variation in brass weight. So a hot load in light brass (more case capacity) will likely be too hot in heavier brass (less case capacity) with a big bullet jammed way in the case.

Have fun.

when I loaded some up it was very finicky as to bullet diameter and seating depth and of course nose length.
It was an ugly experiment and I decided I'd just use jacketed from now on in that cartridge.

Yes it will drive you crazy until you get it right. If you like to spend too much time tinkering with things give it a try otherwise just use Berrys 124gr FP had 0 problems with them.
