Hey guys,

I need to load a bunch of .40 S&W for my son, being that I have a bunch of 10B101, and it performs so well in my .45ACP, I hope someone has some experience with it in the forty.

I am loading a LEE 175grn truncated cone.

Thanks in advance!

Jeff

What's your load in .45 acp? I also use it in my .45 (though I have not chrono'd it because i don't own one) I use 9.5 - 10 gr 10b101 in my .45 with good results. 10 grains feel a little hot to me though. In my M&P it really launches the brass out there and leaves heavy extractor marks on the brass.

I am going to load a few rounds in .40 also, but that creates more of a dilemma. People on here advise not to use compress loads which makes me want to lean toward using about 9-9.5 grains behind a 155 grain bullet. I do not know if the 155 grain will be too light to reliably cycle the action of my sig though. I will load up a few and report back on here.

BTW whereabouts are you in new yorkistan? I'm a rocklander myself.

Hmm.. haven't looked at it in the 40.. one thing you can try if you have it being used in a 1911 platform is to seat the bullet longer and give the powder a little more space.. I know that SAAMI Max OAL is 1.135" or so.. but there are lots of competition shooters using the 1911/2011 platform that seat 40's out as long as 1.175"-1.225".. or something more in the 45 acp/10 mm length range.. this with 180's and 200's.
