I turn the elevation screw all the way down until it bottoms out. I then make a light colored "dot" mark on the frame where the slot for the screw ends up pointing. I then make another "dot" on either side of the screw slot. Now I have a reference set of marks as I move from say 173g light boolits to 325g heavy boolits. I find it a lot easier to count and keep track of screw revolutions than clicks. On many of my .44 mags. I can glance at the side of the sight and by the amount of daylight between the frame and sight, can quicky determine if I am up 2 or 3 revolutions. I use the same marking method for the windage screw.
