Need more brain power than I can muster....still working on 7/8 slug loads with 2 new wads...trap commander and helix cushion driver from BPI. Used 2- 16 ga card lst time but later realized bottom card does not seat properly, so used 1-20 then 1 -16. loaded some with 23 grn CLAYS and they were all over the place @ 50 yds. Got to loads with 34 gn LSHT, 5 shots into 4" group @ 50 yds. Now here's what stumps me...@ 100 yds the same loads print 12 - 18" high! Windage unchanged. Pristine wads. 378-380 grn slugs, federal hull, perfect crimp. ???? Thanks for your input.

ht,

How high above POA is your POI at 50 yards? Maybe the loads with 34g of longshot are a bit faster than what you have been shooting?

4x scope sighted in @ 50 yds. the 34 grn LSHT has considerable recoil but I load them to 37 grns. I've got a different scope I'll try, my groups were better when I first started so maybe it just can't take the punishment. I 've always been a little dubious of the saddle mount set up but that's what works unless I get a cantilever rifle barrel.

I have one shotgun barrel that will print slugs with iron sights darn near a foot high at 100 yards, which makes it about worthless for hunting, but it is close enough at 50 yards. I have found that a lot of smoothbore bird barrels will shoot slugs high, as well.
