6.5 Carcano Molds???

A friend of mines future daughter in law recently aquired a 6.5 Carcano. He e-mailed me wondering if I had seen any bullets/boolits for it. He tells me they require a .268 dia projectile. Thinking lead, I told him to slug the bore and get back to me. I looked for molds @Midway and found nothing. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Hornady does, or did, offer a bullet (jacketed) in .268. She needs a clip to load it other than as a single shot. I bought some loaded ammo from Graf and sons some time ago.

I shoot these cheap blemished bullets(cosmetic only) for now: http://www.grafs.com/retail/catalog/product/productId/6186 . They are a real pain to shoot single shot without the clip, which can be found pretty cheap at Numrich. I don't have a mold yet.

CBE makes a .268 mould for the Carcano,I have one and I highly recomend it

Gunny, Grafs has jacketed in stock http://www.grafs.com/retail/catalog/product/productId/6186 . If you’re looking for a cast boolit I have a NOE .269-145 that shoots great in the Vetterli with light loads http://noebulletmolds.com/NV/product_info.php?cPath=27&products_id=111&osCsid=avafta3fb7dl0dhmn2uvthd711 . They drop at .270 so I don’t size them, just seat a GC on in a .266 sizing die then pan lube. Lots of work but those Vettertli’s can’t take too much abuse. Im sure a Carcano can go full house loads with that boolit.

I have that NOE mold also, the only problem you may run in to is your seating die needing to be opened up to allow that fat of a nose.

NOE mold rocks in Carcano and yes,you do have to ream seating die a bit to use them.

btw-you can use Lee 6.5 swedish neck sizer for Carcano.It will squeeze about 2/3 of the neck but this is sufficient for NOE boolit.
