I am shooting 214 gr .311 Egan Cast Boolits. I am using 29.4 gr of AA2495, and Lapua brass. It shoots pretty well but the case necks are sootie. I am turning the necks to .010", (this takes off abour .003" total) and anealing. Hopes this works. Has anyone else run into sootie necks, and has another solution?

Generally sooty necks are an indication the chamber pressure is too low and the powder charge needs to be increased. I cannot say for sure, not knowing what cartridge you are using.

Felix:

My pressures are low. So if the necks are a bit thinner the pressure can be a bit less to make a seal. This is actually with Varget is a very successful CBA match load. More powder to bring up the pressure will give more velocity which I do not need. I find that Lapua is very hard brass. I have made up a few rounds and will see if the sootie necks go away.
