Hello all,
I have some questions about NOE molds. First off, they list all of their .44 cal molds as .432. For those of you that have these, do they actually drop at that diameter? I know that it varies with alloy, etc. but do they drop larger than a Lee, Lyman, etc? Also, I was looking at the 200 and 265 grain models. Has anyone used them in a Ruger Blackhawk .44 Special or an 1894 Marlin? Thanks for any and all info. Have a good one!

Mine drop at, or a bit bigger, than the size listed.

Thanks. Do you size them? What do you size them down to?

I size mine but the need to size and what to size them to is determined but what the gun wants, not what I do.

Good point. I was just wondering if they were too large for the bore. Are you using .44's from NOE or just NOE molds in general? Curious if the larger diameter 200 grainers work in a rifle (or handgun for that matter). Thanks.

I have a 45-70, 32-20, and a 30-30 mould from them. All drop at the right size or just a tad over.

How well they work depends on what the specific gun wants.

My first NOE mold was a group buy 3 years ago, a 429421 lyman clone 245gr. RG type Hollow point. I don't recall if that GB was advertised as a Fat boolit or not?
BUT...
The boolits drop at a FAT .434 with a fairly soft alloy.
while it bothered me at first, shortly after getting that mold, I stumbled onto a Rossi 720 44 spl with WAY over size throats(.4335) and bore(.4325), the .434 unsized works perfect in that gun. Sometimes a guy just gets lucky.

I don't own any other NOE mold in 44 cal.
But I own others caliber NOE mold...several of them.
on average they drop .001 larger than advertised with my alloy and casting technique/
YMMV.

I own three NOE molds. Two .357 and one .308

They drop right around .360, and .311 respectively.

I have a BUNCH of NOE moulds, I've found that they drop really really close to the advertized size. :)
Yes some are 44 cal. :)

Why would anyone in their right mind purchase so many different molds for one caliber? ;) ;)

I must admit, I need to update that photo, it's about 8 more moulds short now...

but I may as well wait for the next one to arrive before updating the photo... :)

Back to topic I've got about 7 NOE molds, all of which cast equal to or over stated diameter. I have a 5 cavity 230 grain Wadcutter 44 mold that is a favorite. I also have a 2 cavity that drops a 110 grain wadcutter that is fun for multi-ball loads.

The target is 10 shots of 3-ball 44 magnum. It actually shoots closer than the picture shows. I deliberately moved my shots around to give a better picture of the spread.
