Same as above...no lathe but interested. I've read people have spun priming compound into the rim using a drill press.

Does one use the lathe to modify the rifle? or to reload the cases?

I've got a hard copy of the original magazine. The process is for making a rimfire case from a centerfire case similar to the ones sold by Dixie. The primer pocket is plugged, an offset one is drilled and chambered to a light press fit for a .22 blank. There is additional information on heel bullets, lube and loading. The guy who is making the cases and loading the shells appears to be a pretty savvy guy. The guy (different guy) writing the article makes the point that this is "new" to him and he is pretty enthused about it. It's a pretty good read for the concepts, you are probably still going to have to work out some specific details for every weapon/cartridge combination. there is an extensive thread in this same forum heading regarding modifying .32 rim fire brass although most of it is using a centrally drilled rather than offset drilld hole for the .22 priming blank. That is an easier process if the firing pin is big enough to reach a .22 rimfire. Center drilled works with .25 RF and at least some .32 RF, bigger than that and you will need to offset the .22 blank or step up to .27 Ramsets or cut off 9mm RF shot shells for your ignition.

I would say it is used to prime the outer rim with the slurry you mix up,so that the firing pin will set it off. Sprink
