About three or four years ago I bought a Remington Rolling Block No. 2 takedown rifle chambered in 22 Long. Here is what I think I need done.
1. reline to 22lr.
2. tighten action.
3. install rear sight.
Can anyone steer me to the right person to do this work for say, $300-400?

Send a PM to GoodSteel on this forum. If he won't do the job I'll bet he can refer you to someone who will.

Take care, Tom

Is it possible to get a picture? I have never heard of a takedown No 2, and would like to see one.

The #4 came in a 22 take down.

Maybe it is a no. 4. I am no expert. Petite action and rifle.

#4 does not have a lower tang. #2 lower tang is held to action with two screws like the bigger actions.

Well then mine is a No. 2. It has the two tangs as you describe.
I will be sending it to GoodSteel for the needed work.

Looks to be a #4 to me. The back of the receiver is always curved on a #2 where it meets the wood, among other things. You sure don't want to hunt down hard to find #2 parts only to find out it is a #4 and they don't fit.

Texassako you are right, it is a no.4. No bottom tang after all. Went and looked instead of going off memory, lol.
Also, got to thinking and recalled a thread I started some years back on the rifle. Looked it up. Much better pictures here. http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?124012-No-4-Rolling-Block-Tang-Sight

early #4, has the takedown lever on the right instead of the screw on the left. I have a #4 size action in the shop with a lower tang but it's not a Remington or Crescent. The Crescent looks just like a Remington except the triple spring is opposite. Don't know who copied who on the #4, if crescent copied Remington it is sure that Remington would have had them in court.
