I'm looking to pick up another 45 Colt mold. I already have the MiHec RCBS-270-SAA mold and it is a fine mold. How does it compare to say the NOE 454424 mold? Anybody have both that can compare them as far as bullet profile, accuracy, etc?

Any other suggestions for an approx 250gr Keith style mold currently available?

I have the NOE 454424 mold and love it. I have the Mihec version of the RCBS-270-SAA on order, but the group buy has not closed yet. The NOE drops consistent bullets that shoot exceptionally well in my Blackhawk.

Looks like both of you are only a $5.80 SFR box away from knowing how the other boolit shoots!

Ya know, Beagle333, that there's one of the wisest posts I've read here. Brilliant!

I have both of those moulds. I bought the NOE for my 625's in .45 ACP. In Auto Rim cases ahead of 7.0 grs of Unique they chronograph at 900+ fps. That matches the old .45 Colt Black Powder load that would shoot through a horse (literally) at 100 yards with a MUCH better designed bullet. It shoots quite well (NRA Bullseye well) in my 625's.

I use the Mihec version of the RCBS 45-270-SAA in my Ruger SS Bisley .45 ACP/.45 Colt Convertible. Frankly, I cannot imagine a better bullet for the task unless it is the Lee C-452-300-RF (Frank Siefer and I designed the .44 Magnum version for Lee and they later added the .45 version). However, for the .45 Colt (including Ruger only) I prefer a plain base bullet which the Mihec bullet is. I have also shot the 454424 in my Colts and it works well. The hollow point version of the Mihec bullet does a fine job on deer, by the way...
