I have owned my Remington Model 33 for ten years or more now and it has accounted for more squirrels and chipmunks than I recall. Well the other day I spotted a big gray running around so I grabbed the Remington and went looking. After a few minutes he stepped out onto a branch about 40 feet up and about 30 yards out. One standard velocity .22 lr and he was in the pot.

Everyone should own one good solid .22 rifle. Simple, dependable, fun and always useful.

Nothing beats a .22 for squirrel. I used to "guard" the apple trees from those critters with mine.

I got my first .22 rifle in 1964. I still have it, and it's my go to rifle when varmints show up. Nailed quite a few raccoons, and woodchucks with it. Once, I went out shooting with a buddy and we put 500 rds through our rifles that day. By the time we went home, the ground was simply covered with .22 empties.
