View Full Version : Redid my Ithaca Deerslayer

I noticed at the end of the season that the finish on my Ithaca Deerslayer was wearing thin and there were some tiny cracks in a couple places so I decided to redo the whole thing. I stripped the old lacquer finish and then redid it with my favorite, Tru-oil. I put on a coat, smoothed it out and then added another. I have five coats on it.

Very nice.

I like Tru Oil...

It makes me laugh, though, that with all the advancements we've had, the proper application tool is your FINGER![smilie=l:

Good job, looks great. Do you think it might shoot straighter now - I know of some folk after they got their car painted they swore it drove better!
