I noticed at the end of the season that the finish on my Ithaca Deerslayer was wearing thin and there were some tiny cracks in a couple places so I decided to redo the whole thing. I stripped the old lacquer finish and then redid it with my favorite, Tru-oil. I put on a coat, smoothed it out and then added another. I have five coats on it.
