Just a quick question to you all, what was Winchesters standard barrel profile on the 92's.

Read elswhere that the standard taper was .006 per inch. Can someone confirm this please?

My 92 25-20 has an aftermarket barrel I think tapers too light too quick. It's at the gunsmith now to be rebarreled again and would like to stay with the original lines as much as possible.

Thanks.

I have a round bbl 32-20 that measures .910 at the receiver, .650 at the FE wood, and .600 at the muzzle, 19" of bbl to figure the taper.
It is not a straight taper barrel. If you're talking octagon, .006 would give a .110 smaller muzzle. best I can do, all the others are 34-40 octagons, and longer.

my 24" octagon rifle 25-20 starts at .840 at the receiver and ends at .700 at the muzzle it was made about 1921.
my 20" round barrel 25-20 carbine made in 1924 starts at .910 and ends at .605.
