Went to a little gunshow today to take a quick look around, never know what you'll find in these small shows. Ended up taking some time looking at a couple tables a guy had piled with anything & everything. After some digging I found another lyman 429422 mold to keep my other 429422 company. Of course it didn't have the hb pin but that ok, another one is easily made.

This one a little older than my other one, it doesn't have any vent lines on the face of the blocks. I'll have to cast some bullets with it when I get some time & see what size they cast @.

94000

It's always a good day when any of these old molds are found/rescued & brought back to life by being used.

Nice find. Curious was this the fairgrounds show at Jefferson? Looks like your original mold says 452 422? Lyman's numbers confuse me at times

Yes, it was the jefferson show, they haven't had a show there for years. The 452 is the cherry # that was used to cut the mold. You have 3 sets of #'s on the ideal molds.
top:
77 on one & 5 on the other ='s the assembly #
middle:
429422 on one & 422 on the other='s 429/size of the bullet & 422/bullet #. The one with 422 only is because they machined the corner of the mold off that had the 429/430/431/etc.
bottom:
516 on one & 452 on the other='s the cherry used to cut the molds. Those #'s will be on both 1/2's of the mold blocks. I've seen people selling molds in the past with one cherry # on one side & a different cherry # on the other side.

Thank you bhn22, the conversation before I bought it was priceless.

Thanks for the number explanation. I'll have to watch for that show, hopefully they have it again.
