I don't have one of these guns so I ask. Is the bolt face capable to be opened up to recieve a .608- 45-70 bolt face. And if not is there any thing not exotic of a bigger bore it will recieve? It is cheaper to ask than to go buy one.

Never thought of that. Looks like a TON of fun. Too bad don't have any buddies who can do work like that!!!

Bored1, take a look at your adult education programs, I took a course at one time thru the community college.
The retired master machinist helped me make a swap barrel rifle nut, true up some 45 frames and slides, rebuild the bearings in small used lathe, all kinds of projects I had on my list - he had a knack of getting local industry to donate their old manual machines for us students to learn on. Still wish I had bought a shaper when I had the disposable money.

But they may help you learn to do it yourself on a project like this where you have information available just lack tooling and skills.

I built one on the MN action and it works really good. Very accurate and strong enough to handle loads stouter than I want to feel recoil from. Used a Green Mountain blank and turned it myself. Rented the reamer from Elk Ridge Reamer Rentals. Not hard to do but getting the magazine to work was a little time consuming.

aspangler can you post pic's of your project - did you do the same magazine cutout as in the video I posted?
