What's the best manual for getting started loading BP cartridges? I have Mike Venturino's book, Shooting Buffalo Rifles of the Old West and I've been reading a lot on the internet. I'll be loading for a .45-70 and .45 2-7/8 (.45-110).

Thanks

40 years with the 45-70 by Paul Mathews, it covers the gist of all his other books. While the others are a good read, this ones his best IMHO. This isnt a manual, more like a book, but it covers some of the finer points that the lyman bp wont have.

For the 45-110 no book compares to Kenny Wasseburgers posts on the Shiloh forum.

Venturino's book is the best, but if you really want to find out how to load those two cartridges you'll read everything that Sharpsguy has to say about the 45-70 and Kenny Wasserburger has to say about the 2 7/8, then take that info and put into hands on with your rifle.

The SPG manual/primer is good also alot of info and some data. By Mike Venturino and Steve Garbe. You can never have to much information.
