I am in need of a 375 bullet in the 220 gr size.

I normally use this: http://www.hornady.com/store/375-Cal-.375-220-gr-FP/

I'm interested in swaging something similar, as these have been nearly unobtainable.

I realize I'd have to size the brass down a little.

Has anyone tried this or something similar?

I'm not interested in reinventing the wheel if it has already been worked out.

Thanks in advance.

No problem! Use cut down scrap 223rem brass instead of 9mm! Easy & awesome bullet. One of those "makes since" jackets for caliber, like 9mms for 40 cal, 40 S&W for 44s, 22lr for 22 cal, 5.7x28 for 30 cal and 223rem for .375! EASY!

These are 265 grains but getting a 220 grain is just as easy.

If you have a bunch of 9mm brass, I would do it. I have made 200 gr .35 cal bullets from it so you can easily get it to .375. With a flat nose like that Hornady you should be able to get 220 gr or slightly more maybe if you wanted to.

Would 9mm and/or 223 brass swaged 375s expand at lower velocities?

I would say yes but need to know what velocity you are thinking about. The anealed 9mm case will probably expand at a lower velocity than the 223 case just becase the case is more thin than the cut off 223.

you control the expansion through a couple of things.
alloy used for the core.
anneal of the case.
and amount of lead exposed at the tip.
a canellure can help stop the expansion, and a partial anneal of just the nose can help here too.
when I was mucking about with 223 bullets and was experimenting a lot with them I found I could get them to act like everything from a varmint grenade through a partition and almost a fmj just by controlling those few things.

yes, good points runfiverun.
