I have a new Ruger Blackhawk with throats that measure .451 with my minus pin gauges. I have loaded a .452 diameter 225 boolit with good results. I just picked up some Hornady cowboy boolits that are 255 grain but .454 diameter, can I expect decent accuracy out of these. I only use mild loads in all my guns in case this factors in. Thanks,

Jim

In my Ruger. 45 Colt, using unsized .455 bullets resulted in 20% larger groups at 25 yards than with the same heat of bullets sized .452", with 6.5 grains of Bullseye. OK for close range steel plates, but not for serious competition at 50 yards or more.

32cal,

There is no way to predict this sort of answer. It is only available by testing. I shoot a 45 Colt with a .456 boolit down a .452 bore with wonderful accuracy. I also shoot a .3795 boolit down a .3795 bore with equally great results. Never know 'till you try.
