So, I found my practice/plinking load with HS-6. Now I want to find a full house load using the Lee tl358-158.

Hodgdon list a starting load for the XTP 158gn at 15gn max at 16.7.

The Lyman lists a 160gn Linotype at 15.8-16.5.

I'm thinking that the XTP min would be a good start for working up towards the Lyman max, but wanted to get some expert opinions on using H110 with cast wheel weights that are only air cooled. I'll be shooting these from a 6" Taurus SS66, won't be a steady diet of them, so a pound of H110 should last me a very long time.

I'm hoping to find the accuracy that I found with 8gn of HS-6, and have a good backwoods/hunting load. Hopefully it doesn't lead too bad. If so I'll experiment with heat treating, but I am expecting them to be not too bad as cast.

What do you guys think? What do you use?

Thanks!

How about this?

This is a pretty good alternative.

Not sure if the TL design will survive full power loads, but worth a try. Lee 358 158 RF is a superb design,
along with Lyman 358477 and 358429.

Isn't that mold a SWC design? There is a lot of load data for 158 grain SWCs out there.

Nice! I'm not sure about the tl design or the alox performing either, but it will drive me nuts till I find out. If it doesn't work, I could dip into the xtp's that I do have until I get another style mould. Just really want to make a cast boolit to do what I want.

It is a swc. I'm still collecting data. I also need to get the Lyman cast handbook, so for now I have been trying to scour the net for every bit of info I can find.

I finally found that searching the site with Google gave me better results than using the sites built in search.

I used to load that boolit up to full power levels with no problem at all. I was loading Blue Dot at the time. I can't remember the load, but it was stiff.

I no longer load that boolit or powder, but not because I was in any way dissatisfied with either. It will.accomplish what you want.

Thanks! Just have to wait for some nice weather to test some. The cold and snow just doesn't make for a fun day at the range.

I'm expecting to find a load that shoots well, just hoping it doesn't lead bad. But, playing with heat treating could be fun too.
