For those who shoot the 311466 mould boolit.

What is your average velocity you shoot these at?

Blammer, pard;

If you read through the 'sticky' thread on Miltary Rifle Loads about the 7.62 NATO in the M1A, you'll see that my 311466 loads seemed to hit "the wall" at around 2000 fps or a bit more. Since I was more interested in decent accuracy and good functioning, this doesn't bother me much.

I've gotten some very good accuracy with 466 in other .30 rifles, in all of which I use the bullet sized at .311". Again, when the speed gets up in the 2000 fps area, there seems to be a point at which the groups will start enlarging, and sometimes radically. I've never really tried to extend the speed range, being happy with the results for my purposes.

Blammer, have you tried patching/lubing those bullets with Teflon tape? Using a stiff charge of 3031, I was able to get "normal 30-30" speeds. Very good accuracy too, in the 1 1/2" area.The bullets were 50/50 WW/lino. I killed a few crop raiding deer with them out to about 125 yards.
