With the exception of its length, is the 45 Win Mag dimensionally the same as the 45 ACP? -- If so, I'd be interested in obtaining a handful of them for testing. Thanks

It has similiar external dimentions but the 45 Win Mag is 0.2" longer. Internally, it's quite a bit thicker in the web area to accomodate the higher working pressure which is about double the 45 ACP.

The 45 Winchester Mag cases make great 45 acp shotshells with little effort

I have an m1 Carbine that was converted to 45 Win Mag by LeMag. REALLY nice to cahhy with a side folder.
Finding the brass was a challenge, but I'm around 1000 now.

Finding the brass was a challenge - I hope you mean that the ejected brass was hard to find, as we buy it by the bin from Starline, Top Brass also makes it.

Good guess! You are right. I've been cutting down 308 casings which gets tedious with a pipe cutter. The 45 Win Mag has a 1.19" case length which is exactly the right size for 45 ACP shotshells. It would eliminate a total of three steps in the process. -- The problem is the COST of the brass! This is why I'm looking for used up brass that is still good to reload lower pressure rounds....keep the cost down.

Your state dept make's it hard for anyone not living in the US to get any brass.

The other departments (DHS, EPA, IRS, etc) make it hard for anyone living in the US to enjoy/afford shootin.

I spin the case in my drill with a lee trimmer lock stud while using the pipe cutter fast as all get out but if you were doing a lot it might get tedious

Zuke: is LeMag still around? I remember their advertisements in AR back in the 80's. they were located in Michigan as I recall.

I always wanted an M1 carbine in .45 Win Mag. I really think the gun should have been designed around a similar cartridge in the first place.

A picture of yours please.

I'll take a couple pic's on the weekend and post them.
I've tried that number and been to that address. It's all a no-go.
Check on the firearm auction site's, they come up now and then.
But be forewarned, you HAVE to use a plastic stock. The recoil WILL split/crack a wooden stock pretty quick
