I am thinking about melting about 50 pounds of solder that I have and casting it into boolits so I can easily drop it into my pot.

Any idea what is the largest cheap mold I can buy?

There's a Lee 12 C .490 RB , 6 2x balls like the 00B 18 C.

The 452-300 or 430-310 (6) cavity mold.

A mini muffin pan may be quicker and less expensive than using a mold. Mine are 0.40 lbs.

Are you wanting to alloy the melt with the smaller bullets that are high in tin content?

the 310 grain 44 is just a wee bit larger than the 300 grain 45 caliber .... other than that thier largest mold is a 2 cavity @ 500 grains in either 50/70 or 45/70 , you could of course buy a 6 cav blank ( Or any 6 cav ) and ream it to larger if desired

What about getting a Blank Lee 6 c mold and drill it yourself to max size. Would that work for what you need?

I have a Lee/Ranch Dog mould that drops 460-350 boolits. If I can keep it cool it'll empty a pot pronto. There's a 460-425 as well.

Whip up an angle-iron ingot mould at the shop, figure the weight-per-inch of the ingot, and dunk the ingot in until the desired amount is melted off. Takes a couple seconds. I do this with my 1-lb (lead) angle-iron ingot mould and never found the need to cast tin slugs.

I've used the walmart stainless condiment cups with pretty good results. They're cheap, easily available, and in my experience are right at 1 lb when filled with COWW. I just fill the cups part way when pouring solder joints.

The Lee ingot mold has 1# & 1/2#, you could use the 1.2# for solder. Me, leave it as is & just weigh it if it's scrap pieces. The Lee 12ga slug mold would be a cheapo option but not 6cav.

I like gear's idea. Pretty simple.

I wonder if aluminum angle would work?

I think I will probably go that way. Wouldn't take long to build it, or I might just bore out one of my Lee 6 cavity molds I don't care about.
