I am new to casting for rifle. I slugged the throat area of my Contender 223 rem barrel and the throat measured .22375 dia. It measured.508 in length before the leade. The slug will fit into a fired case with very slight clearance. I am preparing to order my sizer. Is this like a revolver where I would want to order .224" to be slightly larger than the throat? It seems that way to me but I want to be sure. I am preparing to cast with the Lee 6 cavity .225 55 grain Bator mold. I am wanting to hit a velocity of apx. 2200fps out of my 14" barrel, it has a muzzle break on it to conform with the 16" laws. Please advise on the size and expectations

I would say you want at least a 225 sizer. You need to be a little over groove dia to keep the leading at bay.
I think that to hit your 2200 fps your going to have to really hit the high end pressures w/pretty fast powders . My 223 expirence is lacking so maybe you can get it w/o the high pressures. I will keep tabs here as I'm starting a 222.
