Here is the start. 4.0gr of Unique and the Ruger Only Mihec. It doesn't seat as deep as my 280gr Mihec HP that I have shot over 5.5gr of Unique in a SA 1911. I feel pretty safe in an N frame since I have dropped the powder charge 1.5gr and only added 25gr of bullet weight over what I shot in the unsupported chamber of a 1911.

Any thoughts? Maybe what will be a safe max with Unique/Universal?

With the naysayers and people on here believing in just the normal weights and powders in a cartridge like that one is inviting a trampling of oneself by posting such as you have.
Myself I am interested and would try the slower powders that are slow for the 45 Auto. HS-6, PowerPistol maybe even AA9 or even 2400 and powders of the like.
I am curious about your findings.

I'm very interested in your results. I'm looking for a heavy weight low speed solution for a 625 myself.

Do they expand?

I ran some custom 300g JSP in mine, used VV3N37 but I don't recall the charge, I'll look it up when I get back home. IIRC it was still an 800FPS load within pressure spec.

I'd think a little slower powder might be a better choice. I like Power Pistol for warm ACP loads. Cast soft and run up to 800+ I bet they expand nicely. Is it a gas check design?

588fps with the 4.0gr load. Loaded some at 5.2gr from a Lee dipper I had on the bench but it was too dark for the chrono. I managed to catch one at 780fps and the rest errored. Will load some more and try again. No bullet pull nor flattened primers. At 5.2gr the primers are still concave around the firing pin indention. The 4gr load feels like a 38 wadcutter in a Blackhawk and the 5.2 feels like a 45 auto recoil wise. At 588 the bullets are not keyholeing in the least. Pics later.

Very interesting.. I didn't doubt you'd get decent velocity, but I'm curious about accuracy.

Subscribed.
I used a 45-270 SAA over 5.6 grains of universal clays. It was stout. Brian Pierce's article stated 6 grains as max.

If you do some research that gun can handle 460 rowland loads. All you need to do is ream the chamber deeper. They are stout revolvers.
