Anyone using the NOE 378-275G-FN in a Winchester 1894 in 38-55?
Thanks!

Greetings Jim
Most likely will my next trip up north there in the good old U.S. of A. I have shot 300 grainers in my old 38-55's and they do just fine. But after 100 yards with 3F the drop gets to be excessive so you will want to keep them moving at a good velocity.
But for up close work under 50 yards I would prefer a 280 grainer or so just for that extra "thwap" on target.
I would use powders no faster than 2400. I found 1680 worked well. If I would have had more 3031 that would also been used. On the slow powder side I tried some 846 with the 300 grainers and they did good but there was not enough case space to get good velocity.. But a 300 grainer chugging along at 1350 fps at 50 yards of diameter .381 would go through probably 3 deer standing broadside. 50-50 would be a good hunting mix at slow velocities under 1500 fps.
