Trying to decide which to order for my 41s from Buckshot for my RCBS lubesizer. 411 or 412. What do ya'll think?

Have you slugged your throats? That will tell you what size to buy.

Yep, the throats on my Blackhawk slugged .410, and the barrel slugs .409...

I use a .410 die.

I've got several 41s. Trying to find a happy medium. Most of my 41 molds cast larger than 410, also.

The 41 Mag is a fairly rare caliber and are usually spot on 'spec-wise'. I own several (ruger's and s&w's), all shoot cast sized to .411 just fine. There are some guesses as to why, I suspect the cutting tooling doesn't see the heavy usage as does the common calibers, like the 357 or 44 or 45, so there is less variance from wear.

BUT this is all heresay, best thing to do is slug your bore.

I would go with a .411 die then. A little oversize is better than a little undersized. My bisley bh has throats a little over .411. I size to .412.

Just got done measuring my cyl. throats on my Ruger BH and S&W58: both will take a .410" pin gauge no bigger.
Slugging the barrel this week.

I have both the .411 and .412 made by buckshot, I find the .411 works better in both my blackhawks. (standard 6" and 4 5/8" flattop)

I've always used .411 in all my 41 mags

I was looking at the SAAMI website and found that the spec for jacketed bullet diameter is .410", while the spec is .411" for a lead boolit.
My Ruger SBH Hunter needs a .411" boolit.
Too bad Saeco cuts some of their molds too small.

I have both a .410 and .411, and it varies on which one I use depending on the alloy. Softer 10 - 12'ish BHN I go with the .411, harder than 12 BHN the boolits sized to .410 seem to be more accurate in my Redhawk. Just the way it works out for mine. I started out with the .411 push through from Ranchdog, but added the .410 when I got my 4500. Since then I have used them both with the above results.

If your only pouring the harder alloy the .411 will still work great, if you only want the one, but like was mentioned, you can save on shipping....

The good thing about the 41's are they started out at .410" so most are very close to that and they hardly vary at all.

Hope this helps.

FWIW. My smith throats are .4095 pin guaged and bore is .4091ish. Hard to measure. My DW is .4103 on throats and .4092 on bore IIRC. I run .410 in the SW and .4105 on DW. The smith only sees HT coated as it is the titanium and the loads aren't that hot. My DW gets HT and Felix Lube as they run close to 1400 over a stout load of 2400.
