My brother did a .45 Colt mould for me. He used an end mill. Use a depth stop so you don't cut into the mould too deeply...Ray

The easiest and safest way is to get a machinist with a CNC vertical mill to do it.

Comes out very precise that way. Of course, if it's done by hand and gets a little oversize, sizing takes care of it./beagle

The reaming is easy. The set up and maintaining straight and true are not. Gianni

I do them on a vertical mill with a boring bar. Indicate the cavity in and your all set. Ink up the inside and adjust the boring bar until you just start to remove it.

The best way to do it is with a boring head on a mill (CNC or Conventional). It can also be done on a lathe with a boring bar, if the lather has a 4 jaw independent chuck or a faceplate with tie down clamps.

Reamers don’t really like to take off much more than about .005-.010” in a single pass & as was said before, the trick is to keep them on center. If you do use a reamer, it is best to first use a countersink, spot bit or chamfering tool, then a slightly undersized drill bit, then the reamer. In any event, when you run the reamer, use plenty of oil & run it at a very slow RPM if you run it in a drill press. If you turn it by hand, then make up some kind of support to hold it straight.
