Is the RCBS worth the extra money? The first one seems to be the same as a Lyman.

Might there be something else I should be looking at?

I have two of the first one. The original one I bought that the "head" came loose and would rotate putting the needle anywhere I wanted it. I also have the free replacement the "distributor" sent me to replace the first one. Service was quick on the replacement. I "indexed" the first one to match the second and put them both in the melt and had readings varying more than 100 degrees between the two. I then bought an RCBS thermometer and haven't looked back. My suggestion is don't waste your money on the first one.
Good Luck with your choice,
Rick

PM member Swede Nelson and see if he is still selling thermometers. I got one from him several years ago that is still working well.

I was about to have a hissie fit to get one ordered, so I bought the RCBS a while ago. Will keep your suggestion in mind, if this one dies. Thanks!
