Hello everyone i have to say i have seen a lot of really nice Hollywood press collections here, but no one seems to have a Hollywood Automatic , so i thought i would share mine with you..........................

I loaded on one of those when I was rangemaster for our department back in the late 1970's. Yours has the automatic wad feed conversion that was done in Reseda by ol' Jim. He came up with the conversion and did our machine for me. It really sped up production.

Yours didn't come from a surplus equipment sale in Kern County did it?

I picked up this press a few weeks ago from a antiques dealer in Rancho Cucamonga who was thinking about converting her in to a lamp. Imagine that!

He told me that he got it from a buddy of his and really couldn't tell me more about the press and where it originally came from. He decided to sell it, as he was moving up north and didn't want lug it up there with him. I spent a couple of weeks restoring her back to this condition. The press is stamped with #100 on the turret head.

Any other Hollywood experts out there with info on this type of press? #produced, Value, History, Age.........

Kevin Rohrer and Pressman will be along any time now, and they're the real experts on Hollywood equipment. I just own and use it, but I don't really research it.

I don't believe there were a lot of those presses made, though. Our department had it when I hired on in 1971, and I have no idea how long before that they bought it, or if it's still there or not. I took it to the guy who owned the rights to the Hollywood presses at the time and he did the conversion for the wads. Hollywood never offered that feature, as he had invented it himself. I wish I could remember his full name, but it was a long time ago.

This is a bit late on the response but I recently picked up serial number 244. It's set up in 12 gauge and came with both the six and 8 point crimp dies. Mine is set up for fiber over powder and filler wads. It's cool to see one set up for plastic wads.
