I took my Turk , 8X57 mm to the range today for the 1st time.

My 1st loads were 17.3 grs. of 2400 and the Lyman / IDEAL 323471 at 220 grs. , sized .325" with Ben's Red lube and a Hornady g/c , with Wolf LR primers.

My eyes at age 64 aren't the best, but I held my rec. sight as close as I could and squeezed a few rounds off at the 50 yard mark.

Not knowing if this is " THE LOAD " that this particular rifle likes or not, I wasn't too disappointed for my 1st day out with this one.

Looks good Ben. I wish I never got rid of the ones I had.

Forgot to ask. What cases are you using? I always had better luck with 3006 caes converted. They were a little thicker in the neck. I think it helped on my rifles.

Looks good Ben. I wish I never got rid of the ones I had.I hear that. I wish I'd bought 20 instead of only 2 :-(

Pretty impressive, Ben! My 8 x 57mm now wears a Shaw heavy (1") bbl., but likes a slightly smaller CB, .324". Unfortunately, my #323471 cast @ .323" and gave less than stellar accuracy. On the bright side, I have 2 other molds which fit it perfectly and -> very accurate results.

Very nice. I have a Turk too. Fun rifles to shoot with the Lyman reciever sight. One of my favorite setups. Those are sure pretty boolits, looks like they hold lots of lube.

Mine are factory Remington 8 mm Mauser cases, however I've made 8 X 57 out of 06' cases before. They seemed to work just fine for me also.

Good everything, gun, boolits, and shooting. Those old workhorse rifles are hard to beat!

I never liked the Remington cases. They were a lot thinner than everything else. When I found these at the range, I always set them to the side to sell off.

My rem cases are too short. Several separated on the first firing. Now when I get new ones I expand the necks to 338 and FL size them on my Lee dies and fire form. This works pretty good.

I have several Turks, most are still in cosmoline but the ones I shoot are accurate. I only have one mold, the lee 175. My best load is 17 gr of 2400.
One that I've sporterized but left in 8mm wears the Williams aperture and fiber optic front. I also cut the barrel back to 25"

Those Turks can be good shooters.

I have K. Kale M38, great looking bore and metal is over all is good shape but had a trashed stock. Found a new unissued stock, which is oversized as per the norm, so I am whittling it down and hoping to have it finished soon.

I wish I'd had a license when they was thousands of these on the market.

Sadly, I had a license when these were on the market. I bought several for me and guys at work. Cheapest was 29.00 highest was 46.00 each. The sad part was money was really tight ( nothing has changed there ) and I was really limited on how many I could pick up. Woody
