Why are you considering a Glock for Open class USPSA???

KAABOOM.
I would build race gun on G20 or G35 instead.

That said, the Glock will not keep up with the High cap 1911's in 40.

See STI wed site, Glocks just don't keep up with them in the higher classes in Open or limited. I gun Glocks in production.

And that's why I posed my question. I've seen it several times: A former serversperson shows up to play the IPSC game with their Glock talking about how great the Glock is; and how its the only pistol that works in the sand, and blaw blaw blaw. Those that stick with the game are running a 1911 of some sort within a year.

Perhaps the OP was attempting to make a joke, or is confusing Open with Production class.

Their is a place for everything. Those that go open goto 1911 types mostly. Same in limited. Myself have stayed in production for the last three years. Their is always a large group in production and I can at least place middle of the group. Glocks pretty much rule in production and being a lefty with a Gen 3 I get to learn to reload very good.
P.S. my glock22 and 35 are a dream to shoot with low power minor loads. Also the G21 is fun to play with as the 22gr SWC leaves big holes in paper.
Since this is a lube forum I just want to say that the Glock 21SF with 200 gr SWC bullets loaded with 50/50 beeswax/alax works great in the OEM barrel! Mine has made 700 trouble free rounds in a morning of practice.
I also get good results with this lube in 40S&W when loaded minor.

Well dang, this is where the competition talk is. I started with a g17, then single stack 45 now STI Eagle in .40s&w. Run the same gun in IDPA, 3gun and uspsa. I use Ben's red but cut the beeswax by 1/3 and replace with paraffin. The 2011 is much more accurate and points easier in my hands.
