500 lb of Scrap Lead Cost Me $500.00. It Was Recently 50 Cents A Pound

I just paid $500.00 for 500 pounds of scrap lead. I went to the local re-cycler and was told they were out! Some guy came in last week and bought all they had. I used to go to this re-cycler and pick out the pieces of lead I wanted, the last time it was 50 cents a pound.

Had to go to a re-cycler in a nearby city and got nice scrap lead but a buck a pound? It used to be free in wheelweights.

I wish the EPA was on the ballot.

well I just tried to buy lead. put an add on the local trader. I was paying 10 cents over what the highest yard in the area was. every one thought they had gold not lead. one even gave me the spin that the last smelter was shut down. that made his lead worth more. I told him with the smelter closed. it made his lead worth less because there was no large market for it.

for clean sheet lead and pipe I was offering .80 for unsmelted wheel weights I was paying .30. now I was also offering to pick it up at no charge.
