I seek a [speed] loading device for Super Redhawk in .480 Ruger for which I need not alter the revolver, as occurs with moonclip conversion.

While HKS and Safariland make .44 Magnum loaders for Redhawks, I find nothing available for Super Redhawks, and absolutely nothing available for .480 Ruger.

Does anyone make anything satisfactory for 480s? Does anyone convert or alter HKS or Safariland speed loaders to meet my needs? If not, is anyone willing to attempt a solution?

I use a HKS model 29 speedloader for my 454 SRH's. No 480's on hand to see if they would fit,, sorry.

This is encouraging. I have no experience with any speed loading device except one. About 30 years ago I owned a Safariland speed strip for .38/.357 -- not even close to useful experience.

Would it be possible to try your loader with .480 Ruger or .475 Linebaugh ammunition? I'm guessing that if the ammunition fits the loader, the loader-with-ammunition will fit a Super Redhawk. Or I can futz with it to make it fit. What do you think?

If I had the brass I would try them for fit. I just don't have either of them.

BTW: love the signature quote!

You're not going to be able to modify a HKS model 29 speedloader to fit the .480 brass....I just checked.

why are you against moon clipping it. When moon clipped they can be used with or without moon clips and moon clips are a faster system then any speedloader

So, that dog don't hunt! Well, nuts.

Lloyd, my reasons for not migrating to moonclips include:

1. Ruger service becomes twitchy.

2. Cost of moonclips is outrageous. This deserves many exclamation points.

3. Were I, or my beneficiaries, to sell the SRHs, their value drops off the table.

Thanks for the interest. For many years I have been collecting quotations that are found nowhere else, or are exceptionally obscure. My database now has 801 entries.
