I have made a few trades on here for some pure lead, these are all in the Lee mold style ingots, I need to ship one 50lb box and another 40-50lbs box, can you guys tell me the best ways please, I know USPS flat rate, but do I do one 50lbs box or 2 25lb boxes?

Weight restrictions for domestic Priority Mail Express and Priority Mail Flat Rate Envelopes and Boxes are 70 pounds.

small: $5.80
medium: $12.35
large: $16.85

50 lbs easily fits in a MFRB. Whatever packing strategy you use, insure the stuff packed inside doesn't shift around and tear the outer box apart. The Tyveck envelopes the PO uses are very strong. You can't use too much packing tape.

Lead in tyvek envelopes. Tyvek envelopes inside small flat rate boxes. Small flat rate boxes inside medium flat rate box. This is the best method I've seen for shipping ingots. The multiple layers means if one is punctured you still have more to keep everything contained.

I've had the ones w/ wood boxes inside arrive smashed beyond belief w/ contents missing. Plus the wood boxes cost money to build.

I med FRB. I use the small FRB, fill those & then stack them in the med. Tape the individual boxes well & the the outer box, it ships fine.

I usually ship one well reinforced box inside another.. if ingots or otherwise, I usually plastic wrap about 10-15 pounds of wights together and put 3-4 packages of these inside the inner box, pad them well with those shipping peanuts or well compressed paper or cardboard, seal it, then seal the hell out of the outer box.. usually wrapping shipping tape around in three directions to seal it up nice and tight. With those small 1 pound ingots, I can usually get something like 20-22 pounds into a smal flat rate box if I want to ship smaller amounts..

Make sure to use the fiberglass reinforced tape or something as good. One can't overdo the packing! I did a swap recently for lead and the box was beat to HE## and half of the lead was missing. He only used regular clear plastic tape that broke. Then I had to file the claim (:(), but at least it was paid.

Don't forget that you get $50 insurance for free with and FRB, but only if you claim it when filling out the stuff for the label.

when you think you taped it good enough . give it some more ...I usually do the trinforced box in a med flat rate box also heavily taped

If you use USPS.com rate drops as well. Med Flat Rate You can pack the 1 lbs ingot into small flat rate put them into 1 med box... Ingot most not move that is what breaks them out of the box not the weight.
Shipped over 28,000 lbs last year only lost 2 to damage at the same PO... Cost the PO $ 60 per box after the insurance paid off.. Couple rolls of fiber tape is what I use.

I picked mine up for the PO about two (2) hours ago, and just sent you a PM.

Thanks.
