.450 Marlin cast loads.

So,I finally snagged a mold to start casting for my best friends guide gun.
Lyman 457483 gas check 378g (theoretically)

Anyone casting for their .450 Marlin, wanna share some data? I have 2015 and rx7 which have both proven very very good in jacketed loads.

I'd like to dial this back a bit. The rifle is not the most pleasant plinker in the rack.

I would recommend the faster burning of the two powders, RL-7. Slower burning powders = more muzzle flash out of the Guide Guns, especially the ported version. From there I don't have any loads that would help you as I shoot a 490 grn BRP slug over AA5744 out of my .450 Marlin Ultra Rifle with a 22 inch barrel.

I asked for some lighter loads for hunting TN deer and plinking. Full house loads are a waste here in TN and just plain abusive.

Nice to know only I don't use their powder. Need the others Hodgden, IMR, Alliant etc.

I use to have a 458X2' built on a Rem 600 Mag action. Back then I used Speer 400 gr "J" bullets over 49 gr IMR4198. Very accurate at 100 yds from a bench...if you could hang on to it. Three shot groups were 1.5 to 1 inch at 100 yds. Look at IMR 4198 powder. The case capacities of the two cartridges are very close.

I use 43g of IMR4189 under a 390g in my 1895gs 45-70.
Very accurate and not bad recoil. Runs around 1600fps
