I was positive there was a time you could buy the parts to do the model 70 safety on a mauser shrould. I can not find any of these at midway or brownells now. Did they stop making these and the cutter to cut the shrould? Is any one providing this work ? I could put it together if someone could machine the shrouds for me. I would do about 6 of them if possible.

All of the three position safetys are out of stock. If you can do machine work you can do the two position, http://www.brownells.com/rifle-parts/receiver-amp-action-parts/safety-parts/safeties/two-position-safety-kit-prod9916.aspx

Nekshot; Brownell's still has the Chapman conversion for the Mauser 98 to Win. M-70 style safety in my #66 catalog. For the safety look up part #201-100-098AK. For the milling fixture and tools look up the following parts numbers. #201-100-000AK, #549-827-105AK, #549-031-330AK, #549-030-601AK.

Thanks, I will get my catalog and punch in those numbers. I was starting to sweat real bad because I have wanted to do this for at least 5 years and kept putting it off. I was hoping the primer hoarders did not hoard these.

Check over at MauserCentral. User Donmarkey makes up a few and posts them on their For Sale site. He does excellent work.

IIRC, I went with the Gentry 3 position side swing and Timney trigger.

I've always used Gentry, also.

I have a two position, a gentry and a Dakota. My favorite by far is the gentry.
The gentry is more like a ruger than a Winchester. It's a little hard to catch for jump shots when your wearing gloves but it never gets bumped off. I don't do much jump shooting anymore so it's not an issue. The other two will get bumped off in general handling. Not a real issue for me because I constantly check my safety. I just don't like it!
