Are the old Rem rolling lock 20ga and 16ga shotguns safe to shoot with todays ammo?

I don't know for sure, but I would definitely check the chamber length before loading one. Most of the ones I can remember seeing advertised were from Sweden and probably have 2 1/2 or 2 9/16" chambers.

Call me crazy, but I would rather be cautious than see if I can blow up a gun without getting hurt.

After being sure of the chamber length, I think the load I would fire thru them would be a reduced skeet load.Robert

Check chamber length and I think I would stay with black powder.

They are better suited to black powder loads, and there fun to shoot and easy to clean. & if they get boring you can make a barrel to fit the shotgun and change to a catridge gun.
