What do you think about this WW1 Colt with a US&S slide? It has a SA stamp on the frame. I don't know, my thought is it that it would be a old Colt parts gun but is it more than that?

The seller thinks its more than a parts gun though.

It looks like a parts gun to me.

It's purty! Not enough info to tell for me. I'd bet it's a parts gun. Else it wouldn't be on armslist.

In the service many times these guns were rebuilt by just replacing parts from the
used parts bins. If you had a all US&S gun, it would be extremely valuable. A US&S
slide is a rarity, certainly, but on a pile of random parts - - - it is a shooter with
an interesting past, at best. Probably worth a touch more than a run of the mill
milsurp mixmaster 1911, but not tons more.

OTOH, an item is worth exactly what the greatest fool is willing to pay for it. Somebody
with lots of $$ and not much knowledge may pay a lot for it.

I wouldn't.

Thanks, I offered 550.00 and she had higher offers. I'll have to keep with the pt 1911.
