Anyone use Accurate 2700 in 7.62x54r?

Nope...but I do use AA2700 in '06 loads for the Garand. 37.0 gr. under the RCBS 30-165-SIL (or the Lee 309-200-1R) with a dacron fill provides 100% function with better accuracy than M2 Ball.

Oh yeah...forgot to mention. I've found I get much lower SDs using mag primers with 2700.

Unconfirmed, but I understand that AA2700, H414 and W760 are the same powder.
I'm not sure where I read this, but if I recall correctly, it was in the LEE reloading manual.
May have been at a reputable reloading website.

Update: AA2700 is NOT the same powder as H414 or W760 !

Might have a similar burn rate, but in appearance they're a little different looking with 2700 having slightly larger flattened balls. There used to be even more of a difference as I once had an 8lb container of 2700 that was truly spherical. The little balls bounced all over the place when poured in the scale pan. I use 35-37gr in Krag loads with bullets ranging from 180-200gr. The case capacity of the 30-40 and 7.62x54 are very close. Like Krasch said, magnum primers are in order.

I'd like to hear more about your experience with 2700 in the Garand. I happen to have an almost full jug of it and some 160gr boolits I'd like to try. First off, what kind of velocities were you getting? Were you using coatings and/or gas checks with your boolit? Is the filler absolutely necessary.
Thanks, Ron

From my Garand that load chronographs at 1996 fps (10-shot string) with an SD of 18. Accuracy is just a bit better than M2 ball...2"-2 1/4" versus 2 1/2"-3" @ 100M...using issue sights. I size to .311 and finished boolits (lubed w/GC) go 174 gr. using my 'hard' alloy (18-20 Bhn). For lube, I'm using Lars 'Carnuba Red'. I can't really say whether or not the filler is 'necessary' because I've never tried this particular load without it. FWIW, I've never had any luck with 'lighter' boolits in the Garand...loaded 'hot' enough to obtain reliable function, groups tend toward 'patterns' and some lead fouling beginning to appear after only 15-20 rounds.
