I bought my first 6 Cav. Lee mold for 9mm. For my 9mm I went with a 120 gr. truncated cone because it has been reported to be a good choice for my Beretta 92fs.
Next, I need to buy a 45 cal. mold for my cowboy single action Rugers and my Marlin lever action rifle. All my cowboy guns are .45 long colt. I have been constrained to a LRNFP design due to my lever rifles tubular magazine. Using precast bullets have worked fine so far for now, so I'm planning on a 200gr. LRNFP Mold.
However, what would be a good all around bullet style for my 1911 semi automatics?
I will be using a Lyman Lubrsizer, and not interested in tumble lubing at this time.

Thank You,
Bruce

For my money you can't beat the lyman 452374 in the 45 acp.

The Lee 45-200-RF is a nice round for 45 Colt and may work for your 1911, although I have not tested one in the platform. They worked well in my Glock 30 with the caveat that I had to seat them deeper that I really liked because of the larger oglive. This, in turn, forced me to reduce my powder load to avoid excess pressure. I have not tried these in my 1911, but I suspect it will not be as finicky as the Austrian snob.

The 200 RF has been quite accurate for my brother and I. I don't have much experience with it in the .45 Colt, but I have seen it mentioned favorably by others who have. In my 625 S&W, it shot around 2.5" at 50 yards when pushed fairly hard. My brother prefers it in his 1911's, and in fact uses it in his carry ammo. The nose is on the short side, and a finicky 1911 might not like it, but we have had no problems so far.

Since you want a 200 grain slug for lighter recoil in your cowboy guns, I would suggest the Accurate 45-200U: http://www.accuratemolds.com/bullet_detail.php?bullet=45-200U-D.png

This will give you the RNFP "look" of the 1880's, and it appears to have pretty much the same nose profile as my 45-230F that feeds in my 1911's quite nicely.

For 1911s, I recommend one of the H&G 68 clones out there, 200 SWC. This may not
be suitable for the .45 Colt lever guns, though. The 200 RF may work OK in the 1911, too.

The Lyman #452460, 200 grain SWC, has worked in every 1911 type pistol I have ever owned and in a Taurus 455, 45 acp revolver and S&W 1917 revolver. The nose shape should function in a lever action rifle and definitly worth a try.

I have had great results with the Lee 230gr TC in 45LC and 45 ACP. HI-TEK coated. in lever gun and 1911.

The Lee 230 TC (Not TL) is my standard 45 ACP boolit and it also works fine for SASS shooting in 45 Colt; you will want to do a roll crimp into the top band to keep the boolit in place for the LA rifle. As for the Lee 200 RNFP, the ovige of the boolit will sometimes hit the slide stop in the 1911 45 ACP and jam or lock the slide, but some people don't have a problem. YMMV

Take a look at the accurate 200b I had it designed for my xd it ran like butter thru it and every other .45 ive used it in as well as my ruger .45 colts. If you want to go a bit heavier check out the 235 r from accurate it feeds great in every .45 acp I've tried it and was designed by a friend to also be used in the .45 colt ruger and Rossi 92's and it does a superb job in those as well
