When I was shooting handgun silhouette, I would load 10.5 grs of unique with that
bullet. That was my chicken and pig load. It was very accurate out of my Ruger 10".

You can use a lighter load as well. I load 7.5 grains for AlaskanGurl, and she has no trouble with that load.... I load 7.5 to 10.5 depends on who is shooting the 44.... But for full powder loads i use ramshot enforcer.....

I use 8.5 grains as a target/plinking load with the 250KT in my RBH.

I use 10.0 grs in my 4" Model 629. That provides all the snorting and bucking I care to take from a general purpose handgun.

My molds (I use two 4-cavity molds when casting) throw the 429421 at an average of 255 grains with pretty much straight WW. I shoot a 629 with 8 3/8" barrel and using 10 grains of Unique I'm averaging just under 1100 fps chronoghaphed. I've used this load for almost 45 years. I started with a Ruger SBH, then after being introduced to the S&W by a friend, I purchased a 29 which I gave to my brother when I purchased my first 629.

+ another that likes that load. I use it with the 44-250-K in all of my .44s.

I use 9.5g of Unique or 8.5g of Green Dot and the Lyman 429421HP4C, hollow pointed to 230g in all my .44 mags when I want a nice, easy to shoot load, that chrono's in the 1025 to 1050 fps area.

I use two loads in my old new model Super Blackhawk. 21 gr 2400 and 8.5 gr Unique. Also for the girls 5 gr Bullseye is deadly accurate and a good small game load. Interestingly they shoot to the same POI@ 25 yds.

8.5-10gr of Unique should fill your needs.
Depends what velocity range you want.....dale

I use 8 to 10 grains of Unique depending on how much fizz I want in the load.

mostly 8.5 or 9.3 grs of unique depending on which powder drop I grab at the time.
I have another drop set for 7.2 grs of unique, which I use for the 44 special and for super light loads in the other '4' calibers.

7 grains of unique in 44 special brass with a 429421. Best accuracy I've found.

Hi...
My standard target, plinking and general purpose load with a 240gr LSWC in the .44Mag is 10.0gr of Unique.
My son and I shoot several hundred to a thousand each shooting season out of 4 different handguns. Accurate and easy on the guns and shooters.

I do load several other full power loads in .44Mag for specific handguns, but we shoot far fewer of them.

I load 7.5 gr Unique for a mild target charge, and 10.0 gr for a medium load.

8 grains unique with the Keith for me in the last big batch. Although I may run up the next couple batches to see if accuracy improves. Very mild at 8 gr however.

10.5 grains with a normal LP primer. I am shooting a super RH, so recoil is very modest. Also very accurate load, chrony shows it about 1150fps from the SRH.

Another fan of the 8 gr. Unique. My Most accurate load in the 8 3/8 629

10 grains of Long shot is a nice load, a little stronger than my 9.4 of Unique.
My best load is 19 grains of 2400 with the 244 gas check Lyman bullet weighing in at about 255 grains.
8.5 of unique if I have new shooters or just want to hit a few tin cans for a while.
