The screw that holds the adjustment knob on a Redfield receiver sight. I don't know what the size is but, the slide stop screw from a Lyman sight will fit perfectly, although it's too long and doesn't have the small head. The measurments are .0956" in diameter; .114" head size; .2" long. Any help will be appreciated, thanks. -JDL

Looks like a #3 size thread which has a nominal pitch diameter of
0.099". The UNF (Unified National Fine) tpi is 56. It will take some real
careful measurement to see how many thread per inch. I suggest measuring
the height of the screw above the surface and then turning it 1 or 2
full turns and measure the change in height, then you have inches per
thread, and invert it to get threads per inch. For 56 tpi, the change would
be 1/56 or 0.018" per revolution. If it is 56, #3-56 screws are available,
just not everywhere. I'd start with Brownell's. If it is an oddball pitch
(and I have seen this on gun stuff pretty often - why they can't use std
pitches, I'll never know) you may need to find a correct replacement screw
(good luck!) or even find a miniature machinist willing to make one. :(

JDL, Checked the screw size on one of my Lyman receiver sights, and like MtGun44 said, it's a 3-56. I've got standard Filister head screws, and the heads are .156" in dia. If you e-mail me your address, I'll get one out to you. You'll have to cut it to length, and if need be, take the head down to the dia. you want, by holding and turning against a belt sander or grinder.
