Just read the Lee lapping sticky and had a few questions. I bought 2 new lee molds. One looks really good and casts really well. The other didn't look like it was machined out very well and had some excess metal shaving sticking off where the base of the bullet is, so it didn't cast a perfect edge there. The mold seems to cast ok other then the edge, but I thought about polishing the mold in hopes to clean up the bad edge.

I have some wheeler engineering lapping compound, and wondered if the 600grit would work. Or should I be using something like Comet?

The 600 grit would just polish the inside of the cavities (does a very nice job too) but not do much for the base edge. You may have to take an xacto knife and carefully debur the base edges or top of the mold.

Try your wife scaring powder that she uses. I have used tooth past before. It will do a good job also.
