I took my wife and daughter to the indoor range today for a friendly competition.

They shot my 1911 in 45 ACP and CZ 75 B in 9 mm. Some slow fire at 10 yards, rapid at 5 yards.

I won't say, for now, which one shot which target.

Target 1

Target 2

Vote for either target 1 or target 2 based on which you think is the better target.

They both had a good time and accused me of showing off.

I'll have to go with #2...

Barely...

I wouldn't want either one of them shooting at me!

I don't want either mad at me, that is why I am letting you guys decide the winner for me! I may be a coward but I will love to see the New Year!

I voted target two. I didn't like the string way out to the left on target one, even though the rest of the shots were in a much tighter group.

Target 2 is no frills, all business, death and destruction perpetrated from the belly to the chest, Good stuff right there.

Target # 2. Just score it, it's a B-27 so score it ( which I didn't BTW) from the looks of it the #2 will go much higher. Now.... if you are talking live meat.... a hit is a hit.... but still the same as score.

It's a draw. Have to have a shoot off.

I like that idea.

Next time it is outdoors, handguns and lever guns.
I may throw in a Blackhawk that neither one likes...

#2 had more hits in the 'X' and '10' rings, and several in the groinal area. Was that co-incidental? Both good shooting, but, I choose #2.

Inquiring minds want to know. Which target belongs to who?

btroj
12-27-2013, 04:37 PM
One is my wife, two is my daughter.

Both shot well, both had a good time. Both need to get out shooting more. That should be easy as my wife got me a family membership at the indoor range so shooting will be cheaper.

The 3rd target you posted is garbage. Whatever happened to some good old spray and pray!!

Good shooting on all of them if you ask me. Each target represents a mission accomplished.

If you want to shoot bullseye, then shoot bullseye targets. If you want to practice self defense shooting, then shoot human silhouette targets. Many benefits to that. Desensitization and gives you more realistic feedback on human anatomy hits than a pie plate with a shoot n c stuck on it.

Couldn't agree more. Well, except for the target 3 shooter. That person is just a show off.

I did shoot one handed to make it more fair. They should be happy I didn't shoot lefty too, I often do that just to show off. Man does that piss em off.

The first 14 with the 1911 by my daughter had my wife thinking "Oh carp, why am I doing?" First 14 had ONE out of the 10 ring. She usually bounces a few half way to the target so she is learning.

I have a feeling I will be loading lots of ammo this year.

Target 3 has too many flyers low and to the left. Needs more practice. :)

A smart man will take them both to dinner. A wise man will also buy each one flowers.

Very nice shooting. I am still working on getting my wife and daughter to shoot. Wife is agreeable but daughter wants nothing to do with guns :( notice I did not pick a winner here

I have offered to buy a handgun for the wife. The daughter is only 20 but may get one for her 21st birthday. She really likes my GP100.

I am fortunate that my wife grew up shooting so this isn't anything new or unusual for her.

Scoring in the manner we scored targets for concealed carry #2 wins.

Voted for 2, What swayed me was the number of marginal hits, if the guy was coming at you. Even though 2 has some very low, that still would be effective, whereas 1 had a few to the far right that were not. But as the old saying goes "I sure would hate to have to live on the difference".

That is some real good shooting there!

Sacrilege! Heresy!

Send them both to bed without dinner (let them cook it first ) and keep them there (except cooking & cleaning) until they see the light.

I know Rick. The Blackhawk in 45 Colt is a great shooter, they just don't understand.

Uh oh, Rick, you just got the look of shame from the wife.

She has shot it, she just doesn't care for the recoil. A 295 gr bullet at 850 isn't bad to me but she isn't a fan.

Spoken like a single man.......

I am fortunate to have her. She supports my addiction and really doesn't complain about things like orders for 25 K primers......

As long as I keep the lead buckets under control she doesn't even complain about the 1400 pounds of range scrap gathered this year.

Yep, I got a keeper.

I can live with not liking the BH, I don't get her dislike of the leveractions. That just isn't right.

Faint, very faint.

Her father doesn't know about this shortcoming, maybe I need to PM 1shirt.......

My daughter does like the leveractions. She also appreciates the SRH in 44 mag and has shot full loads in the 375 H&H. She trusts me if I tell her she can handle a gun, I never do anything to break that trust.

Both are to be congratulated.

That's almost like our house. Like my wife and youngest daughter. The oldest daughter USED to out shoot me every now and then. She also placed in the state IPSC matches when we were still shooting.

I always teach the tightest group is the best shot you can always adjust the sights to move the group to where it should be.

Adjust the sights for the first shooter, or get her her own gun.

Now the third target; were you shooting from your weak hand a limp wristing the grip? Practice, Practice, Practice and you'll get better.:kidding:

btroj
01-01-2014, 07:40 PM
Yeah, I need more practice. It wasn't weak hand but it was one hand. I get called a show off if I shoot weak hand when they are with me.
