I thought the country of origin was supposed to be marked on anything sold in the USA. I just bought a new mold handle from Lyman and to me, it look's like there may be something they wish to conceal. The country of origin isn't on the package anywhere, but there is a place that is blacked out. To me, all this reeks of being made in China.

I bought only 1 set of the new Lyman "New and Improved" mold handles a year back. To say I was disappointed in the quality of them is an understatement! The angle of the handles are at odd angles and the handle ends hit each other keeping the mold partially open. The hinge nut wouldn`t stay tight I finally replaced the nut and bolt altogether and cut about 2" off the handle ends. To suggest they are made in China or some other 3rd world rice bowl country is possibly a correct guess.Robert

No country of origin means it was made in USA.

They are outsourcing to China like RCBS. Just got one of their dippers "Made in China" and thermometer same, Made in China. Thanks Lyman

i once bought a new set of 4 cav handles ....,yes the newer style, the handles themselves were kind of janky ( read that "not quite right" ) this was possibly 4-6 years ago ... the pins kept coming loose from the ferrules and the wood seemed ill fitted to the "tongs" , imagine my surprise when one finally came all the way off ,that wasnt the real surprise as i had pounded those infernal screw type nail/pins back on several times but from within in the handle came these lil strips of newspaper that had been wrapped around the tongs to keep them on the tongs tighter, these lil strips btw had writing on them , i cant say for sure what they said as they were in some kind of character writing similar to many oriental ones , chinese ? maybe ...could of been korean, tawianese,or any number of other languages totally foreign to any semblance of american or english [shrugz] one thing that they left for certain however is that they were not manufactured in america or at least assembled here ....

You'd probably get pretty upset if you knew how much actually comes in from China. I think the U.S. has closed most of their manufacturing plants by now in order to fit in the global economy.

I got two of the new style Lyman handles in last week and they fit my four cavity moulds perfectly and are much easier to work with and control compared to the nutcracker style. My left side is weak due to two strokes and I only have gross control over my left hand. The new Lyman handles are a dream to work with.
